Good things from this week: Some little things this time: thinking of new ideas. Taking opportunities to avoid traffic. This colorful productivity tool, and a calming desktop background. An unseasonably warm day. The start of spring break, with free time for working on my note and for relaxing. A round-table to look forward to when I get back, and we'll be one week closer to spring.

Good things from this week: Starting off the week with a fun meeting, and ending it with a version of a work product. Getting a day off. A delicious dinner (the salad version of this sandwich). A surprisingly warm February day. Finally applying for jobs. Feeling inspired, feeling creative. Feeling like my dreams can come true.

Sounds from the week: Blackfield V, Paper Parachute.

Little good things from this week: reading 1920s slang. Giving out little gifts to friends. Making time for me. Learning new things. Catching up with a friend spontaneously. Friday morning drives with CD accompaniment. A pot of tea with cinnamon and ginger. Pajamas fresh from the dryer. A load of laundry done right before the weekend  begins. Moments of quiet. A few hours of rest. Sleep, soon.

Good things to remember from this week: making pizza after reading Brand X (in a nod to Scalia's dissent),  a much-needed snow day, much-needed moments of quiet, reading a Fitzgerald story I had never heard of, researching the foods of the 1920s and plotting a 20s-themed birthday party for next year, planning treats for Galentine's Day (topped with rainbow sprinkles), painting my nails a festive pink, and tidying up my bookshelf. Looking forward to the coming week.

Some good things from this week: making progress on my paper.  Meeting with my favorite adviser on it, and realizing that
hey, I am doing really well. Learning a lot. Taking time to myself this past weekend. Making time to watch a documentary on the Fitzgeralds because I wanted to. Finally experiencing some quiet at home. Reading caselaw that makes me feel like I'm time-traveling. Having friends who care about me, and friends who I care about. Listening to a CD in the car on Fridays. Going out for Indian food with my school friends, in a new part of town.

So here we are in 2017.

January is always a fun month for me because it's my birthday month. Today was a good one. It was unseasonably warm outside, and I took advantage of the weather while getting some last minute items for my home-made Momofuku Birthday Cake. I also kept my birthday traditions of rainbow sprinkles on my dessert, a blue candle to wish on, and vegetarian pho for dinner. Other highlights include our small family meal, toasting with wine, and La Vie En Rose playing in the bookstore earlier in the day.

I've got plans to stretch out the fun for a bit longer, like waiting for my birthday presents to arrive, going to Sephora, drinking some new-to-me teas, and relaxing a bit more.

I hope this year is the best one yet. Cheers to that!
